Double Dutch Bus on Facebook

Wow, life really caught up with me the past few months. I’ve been busy developing a personal balanced scorecard, launching Aquent’s Facebook presence, visiting Southeast Asia, among other stuff. Since then, Raven-Symone finally released her album featuring Double Dutch Bus. And, College Road Trip was released on Blu Ray and DVD.

Meanwhile, I realized that Double Dutch Bus has its own Facebook! Looks like it was created by some kids in the mid-West.  I think I need to do some work as a contributor to make a it a little more interesting.

Other D.D. Daughter Confirms Movie Reminiscent of Real Life (even the Pig)

My sister sent me a text after seeing Road Trip today and commented that the movie is “the story of our lives”. She reminded me that we did indeed have a pet pig. Although, ours didn’t have any kind of special powers (other than busting through it’s outdoor pen).

Disney Takes a Ride on the Double Dutch Bus

Last night I went to see Disney’s latest kids movie, College Road Trip, which, despite being annoyingly saccharine, reminded me a lot of the college tour I took with my father back in the day. Like Melanie (Raven-Symone’s character), my mother was a real estate agent who stayed home with my siblings while dad and I set off to visit colleges. While Martin Lawrence torments his on-screen daughter with his rendition of Double Dutch Bus during their trip; it just so happens that my dad actually wrote the song. In the movie, Melanie’s girlfriends plan a sleepover on campus that scares the crap out of Martin’s character. In my real-life version of the story, I finagled a sleepover on campus in a boy’s dorm. <Hmm, wonder what dad thought about that?> As Donnie Osmond (another annoyance in the film) might say, I guess I was a little more rock and roll than Melanie. Overall, the movie was mildly entertaining, but the star of the film was neither Raven, Martin, Donnie nor the pet pig. Clearly, it was the Double Dutch Bus. Gimme a “ho” if you got your funky bus fare.
